monologing

Talking without pause

Monologing is delivering a lengthy speech without interruption, often when others would prefer you stop.

The term gained currency from superhero fiction, where villains notoriously explain their evil plans at length, giving heroes time to escape: He was monologing about world domination while I untied myself.

More broadly, anyone who talks at rather than with others can be accused of monologing.

Also spelled monologuing.
