mispaired
Incorrectly matched together
Mispaired describes things that have been incorrectly matched or coupled together.
In genetics, mispaired bases are nucleotides that have bonded with the wrong partner during DNA replication: The enzyme detects and corrects mispaired bases.
More generally, anything wrongly paired: mispaired socks, mispaired dance partners.
