mis-hits
Poorly struck balls
Mis-hits is the plural of mis-hit, a stroke or shot that fails to connect cleanly with the ball or target.
In tennis, golf, or cricket, a mis-hit sends the ball somewhere unintended: Two mis-hits in a row cost her the set.
The term applies to any struck object that doesn't land as planned.
