A mini game is a short, self-contained game embedded within a larger video game.
Mini games typically offer a break from the main gameplay with different mechanics or objectives—a fishing activity in an adventure game, a hacking puzzle in a shooter: I spent hours on the card mini game instead of finishing the main quest.
The term also applies to brief party games or simple standalone games.
