midway games
Ring toss, darts
Midway games are the carnival attractions found along the midway—the central walkway at fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks where game booths line the path.
These are typically games of skill or chance where players pay to win prizes: ring toss, balloon darts, shooting galleries, basketball throws.
The games are notorious for being harder than they appear, with odds favoring the operator: I spent twenty dollars on midway games trying to win a stuffed bear.
