microinstructions
Processor's atomic commands
Microinstructions are the most basic operations a computer processor can execute—the individual steps that make up machine-level instructions.
When a processor receives an instruction like "add two numbers," it breaks this down into a sequence of microinstructions: fetch data, route it to the arithmetic unit, perform the operation, store the result.
These granular commands control the processor's internal circuitry directly.
The engineer traced the bug to a faulty microinstruction in the control unit.
