mentalist
Apparent thought reader
A mentalist is a performer who appears to read minds, predict behavior, or demonstrate other seemingly supernatural mental abilities.
The act typically relies on psychological techniques, keen observation, and showmanship rather than actual psychic powers.
In British slang, mentalist describes someone who behaves erratically or seems crazy: He's a complete mentalist on the football pitch.
The term also applies more neutrally to philosophers who study mental phenomena.
