mature themes
Not for children
Mature themes refers to subject matter in media—films, games, books, television—deemed appropriate only for adult audiences.
This typically includes violence, sexual content, drug use, strong language, or psychological intensity.
Rating systems use the phrase as a content warning: This game contains mature themes and is not suitable for children.
The label sometimes appears euphemistically for content that's simply dark or disturbing rather than explicitly graphic.
