manic pixie dreamgirl
Quirky female catalyst
A manic pixie dream girl is a stock female character in fiction—quirky, whimsical, and seemingly existing only to help a brooding male protagonist discover meaning and joy.
The term is critical, highlighting how such characters lack inner lives or goals of their own: She's just another manic pixie dream girl with no real arc.
Sometimes applied to real women perceived as performatively eccentric.
