main character syndrome
Self-centered narrative thinking
Main character syndrome is the tendency to view oneself as the protagonist of life, with others cast as supporting characters in one's personal narrative.
The term is usually critical, pointing to self-absorption or dramatic behavior that treats ordinary situations as pivotal story moments: She has main character syndrome—everything is about her.
Sometimes used more neutrally for the confidence to pursue one's own path boldly.
