maglevs

Magnetic suspension transit

Maglevs is the plural of maglev, short for magnetic levitation—a technology that uses powerful magnets to lift and propel vehicles without contact with a track.

Maglev trains float above their guideways, eliminating friction and allowing extremely high speeds: Japan's maglevs can exceed 370 miles per hour.

The term applies to both the technology and the trains themselves.
