lost wax
Mold-making with melting
Lost wax is a metalcasting technique where a wax model is coated in heat-resistant material, then heated until the wax melts away, leaving a mold for molten metal.
The method produces intricate sculptures, jewelry, and industrial parts with fine detail.
Also called lost-wax casting or by its French name, cire perdue.
