continuous casting
Nonstop molten shaping
Continuous casting is a manufacturing process in which molten metal is solidified into a semi-finished shape—slabs, billets, or blooms—without interruption.
The metal flows from a furnace through a mold and emerges as a continuous strand, then is cut to length.
The process largely replaced traditional ingot casting in steelmaking because it's faster and wastes less material.
