looking-glass

Old-fashioned reflecting pane

A looking-glass is a mirror—a surface that reflects your image back to you.

The term is old-fashioned, surviving mainly in literary contexts and the title of Lewis Carroll's *Through the Looking-Glass*.

That work gave us looking-glass as an adjective meaning reversed or inverted: looking-glass logic, a looking-glass world where everything is backwards.
