littluns
The youngest ones
Littluns is a childish or playful term for little ones—young children in a group.
The word gained currency from William Golding's *Lord of the Flies*, where the stranded boys divide themselves into littluns and biguns based on age.
Outside that context, the word appears occasionally as an affectionate collective for small children: The littluns were already asleep when we got home.
