light oil
Low-viscosity lubricant
Light oil refers to petroleum products with low density and viscosity that flow easily and evaporate quickly—gasoline, kerosene, and similar fuels.
The term distinguishes these from heavy oils like crude residuum or bunker fuel.
In other contexts, light oil may simply mean any oil applied sparingly: a light oil for sewing machines, massage with a light oil.
