life cycles
Birth-to-death progressions
Life cycles are the series of stages an organism passes through from birth to death, often including reproduction that begins the cycle anew: the life cycle of a butterfly, salmon returning to spawn completes their life cycle.
The term extends to products, technologies, or trends that emerge, mature, and eventually fade: the life cycle of a smartphone model, managing the product life cycle.
