liberal revolution
Freedom-seeking political uprising
A liberal revolution is an uprising or political transformation aimed at establishing constitutional government, individual rights, and limits on state or monarchial power.
The term applies especially to 18th- and 19th-century movements inspired by Enlightenment ideals: The French Revolution began as a liberal revolution before radicalizing.
Such revolutions typically sought freedom of speech, representative government, and protection of property rights.
