libbers

Freedom movement members

Libbers is a casual, sometimes dismissive term for advocates of liberation movements, almost always referring to women's libbers—feminists associated with the women's liberation movement of the 1960s and 70s.

The word carries a faintly mocking tone: Those libbers are at it again.

It sounds dated now, echoing debates from an earlier generation.
