leaf pressing
Drying foliage flat
Leaf pressing is the practice of flattening and drying leaves between weighted surfaces, typically within the pages of heavy books, to preserve them for decoration or study.
The technique removes moisture while maintaining the leaf's shape and some color: She learned leaf pressing as a child and still keeps specimens from family hikes.
Pressed leaves appear in scrapbooks, botanical collections, and craft projects.
