lateralised
Shifted to one side
Lateralised (also spelled lateralized) describes functions or processes concentrated on one side of the brain or body rather than distributed equally.
Language is lateralised to the left hemisphere in most people.
The term appears in neuroscience and psychology: Research shows that emotional processing is lateralised, with the right hemisphere playing a dominant role.
