split-brain
Callosum cut apart
Split-brain describes a condition where two parts of a system that should coordinate have lost communication and operate independently, often causing conflicts.
In medicine, it refers to patients whose corpus callosum has been severed, leaving the brain's hemispheres unable to share information.
In computing, split-brain occurs when nodes in a distributed system lose contact and diverge: The database suffered a split-brain after the network partition.
