land ahoy
Sailor's horizon cry
Land ahoy is a nautical cry announcing that land has been sighted from a ship, traditionally called out by a lookout: After weeks at sea, the sailor finally shouted "Land ahoy!".
The expression appears in historical and adventure narratives, often marking the end of a difficult voyage.
In casual use, it can humorously announce arrival at any destination.
