kick-back

Bribe or recoil

A kick-back is money paid in return for a favor, especially an illicit payment to someone who facilitated a contract or deal: The contractor gave kickbacks to the official who approved the bids.

The term implies corruption—a portion of payment "kicked back" to the person who made it possible.
