keycaps
Typist's finger targets
Keycaps are the removable plastic covers on keyboard keys—the part your fingers actually touch.
Each keycap sits atop a switch mechanism and displays a letter, number, or symbol.
Mechanical keyboard enthusiasts collect and swap keycaps for different colors, materials, or profiles: I just ordered a new set of keycaps for my gaming keyboard.
