jungle rot
Humid fungal infection
Jungle rot is any of various skin infections—fungal, bacterial, or parasitic—that thrive in hot, humid tropical environments.
The term originated with soldiers in jungle warfare, where minor wounds festered rapidly in the wet heat.
More loosely, jungle rot describes the general deterioration of equipment, clothing, or morale in such conditions: Everything we owned was succumbing to jungle rot.
