juleps

Bourbon with mint

Juleps are sweetened drinks, most famously the mint julep, a cocktail of bourbon, sugar, water, and fresh mint served over crushed ice.

The drink is closely associated with the American South and is the traditional beverage of the Kentucky Derby.

We sipped juleps on the porch as the sun went down.

Historically, julep referred to any sweet syrupy drink, sometimes used as a vehicle for medicine.
