intergalactic travel
Journeys between galaxies
Intergalactic travel is movement between galaxies—the vast distances separating the Milky Way from Andromeda or other galaxies.
The concept appears almost exclusively in science fiction, since the scales involved dwarf anything humanity can currently achieve: The ship's intergalactic travel capabilities made the crew pioneers of the universe.
Distinguished from interstellar travel, which occurs between stars within a single galaxy.
