outside pitch
Away from batter
An outside pitch in baseball is one that crosses the plate on the side away from the batter—toward the opposite batter's box rather than toward the body.
Pitchers throw outside to keep hitters from extending their arms fully, often inducing weak contact to the opposite field: He chased an outside pitch and grounded out to short.
