Glow around saints
A nimbus is a luminous cloud or halo surrounding a supernatural being or saint in art—the golden glow around a holy figure's head.
More generally, nimbus describes any atmosphere or aura that surrounds someone or something: a nimbus of celebrity, a nimbus of controversy.
In meteorology, nimbus refers to rain-bearing clouds: cumulonimbus, nimbostratus.
