immune deficiencies
Body's protection gaps
Immune deficiencies are conditions in which the body's immune system is weakened or absent, leaving a person vulnerable to infections that healthy immune systems would fight off.
They can be inherited (primary) or acquired through disease, medication, or malnutrition.
AIDS is the most widely known acquired immune deficiency.
Also called immunodeficiencies.
