imbeciles

Absolute dim bulbs

Imbeciles is the plural of imbecile, a person of notably low intelligence or judgment.

The word was once a clinical term for moderate intellectual disability, ranking between "idiot" and "moron" in early 20th-century psychology.

That medical usage is obsolete.

Now imbecile is simply an insult for someone acting stupidly: Those imbeciles left the gate open and the dog got out.
