hospice patient
End-of-life recipient
A hospice patient is someone receiving end-of-life care focused on comfort rather than cure, typically when a terminal illness has a prognosis of six months or less.
The designation shifts medical goals from treatment to pain management and quality of life: Her father became a hospice patient after stopping chemotherapy.
Hospice care may occur at home, in a facility, or in a hospital.
