home position
Default finger stance
Home position is a default or neutral starting point to which something returns or from which movement is measured.
In typing, the home position is where fingers rest on the keyboard—typically the middle row with index fingers on F and J.
Machinery and robotics use home position as a calibration reference: The robotic arm returned to home position between operations.
In video games, it often refers to a controller's neutral stick position.
