holy union
Blessed wedding ceremony
Holy union is a term for a marriage or marriage-like ceremony, especially one joining a same-sex couple.
The phrase emerged when legal marriage was unavailable to gay and lesbian partners, offering religious or spiritual recognition outside civil law: They celebrated their holy union at a Unitarian church.
Now sometimes used for any religiously solemnized partnership.
