holy shroud
Revered burial linen
A holy shroud is a burial cloth believed to have wrapped a sacred figure, especially the body of Jesus Christ.
The term most often refers to the Shroud of Turin, a linen cloth bearing the faint image of a man, venerated by some as Christ's burial garment and dismissed by others as a medieval forgery.
Pilgrims traveled great distances to view the holy shroud.
