hit point
Character durability measure
A hit point is a unit measuring a character's health or vitality in games, especially video games and tabletop role-playing games.
When you take damage, you lose hit points; when they reach zero, your character dies or is incapacitated.
Often abbreviated HP: I'm down to my last few hit points.
The term has spread to humorous everyday use: Monday mornings drain my hit points.
