herbal infusion
Brewed leaf drink
An herbal infusion is a drink made by steeping plant materials—leaves, flowers, roots, or bark—in hot water.
Unlike true tea, which comes from the Camellia sinensis plant, herbal infusions use other botanicals: chamomile, peppermint, rooibos, hibiscus.
The term is more precise than "herbal tea," which is technically a misnomer.
