hand-kissing

Gallant knuckle salute

Hand-kissing is a formal gesture of greeting or respect in which one person takes another's hand and briefly touches or presses lips to it.

Historically a sign of deference toward royalty, clergy, or ladies, it survives mainly in ceremonial contexts or as an exaggerated show of gallantry: He bent to kiss her hand with theatrical flourish.
