hair-on-fire
Crisis mode activated
Hair-on-fire describes urgent, panicked action in response to a crisis—real or perceived.
Someone in hair-on-fire mode treats everything as an emergency requiring immediate attention.
The image is of someone running around frantically, as if their head were literally ablaze.
Often implies the urgency is excessive or performative: Every minor deadline becomes a hair-on-fire situation with him.
