Rookie, slang term
A greenie is an environmentalist, often used dismissively by those who consider green politics naive or extreme: The greenies are protesting the pipeline again.
In Australian and New Zealand slang, a greenie can also be a wave that breaks earlier than expected, catching surfers off guard.
The word sometimes refers to anything green—a green vegetable, a green traffic light, or green phlegm.
