green flag
Race beginning signal
A green flag is a signal to proceed, originally the literal flag waved to start automobile races.
In relationships and dating, a green flag is a positive sign that someone is trustworthy, emotionally healthy, or otherwise a good match—the opposite of a red flag.
His willingness to communicate openly was a major green flag.
The term extends to any situation where early indicators suggest things will go well.
