grass roof
Straw-topped dwelling shelter
A grass roof is a roof covered with growing grass or other vegetation, typically over a layer of soil.
Traditional in Scandinavian countries and increasingly popular in modern eco-friendly architecture, grass roofs provide insulation and absorb rainwater: The cottage had a grass roof that bloomed with wildflowers in summer.
Also called a sod roof or green roof.
