governor's mansion
State leader's home
A governor's mansion is the official residence of a U.S. state governor, typically a historic or architecturally significant building maintained at public expense.
Some governors live there; others use it mainly for ceremonial functions: The reception was held at the governor's mansion.
The term sometimes appears figuratively for the office itself: She has her eye on the governor's mansion.
