goldbricker

Avoids all work

A goldbricker is someone who avoids work while appearing busy, or who shirks duties altogether.

The term comes from the old con of selling gold-plated lead as solid gold—the goldbricker looks valuable but isn't.

Military slang popularized it for soldiers who fake illness or dodge assignments: Half the platoon are goldbrickers.

The verb goldbrick means to loaf or malinger.
