Pretending to work
Goldbricking is shirking work while appearing busy, or doing the minimum to avoid being caught slacking.
The term comes from the old con of selling gold-plated lead as solid gold—the goldbrick looks valuable but is worthless underneath.
A goldbricker is someone who avoids their fair share: Half the office is goldbricking while the rest of us pick up the slack.
