give over
Cease and desist
Give over means to stop doing something, especially something annoying—a British expression often used as a command: Oh, give over, will you?
It also means to surrender or hand something to another's control: She gave the estate over to her nephew.
To give oneself over to something is to devote oneself completely: He gave himself over to grief.
