get-away

Criminal's swift departure

A get-away is an escape, especially from a crime scene: The robbers made their get-away in a stolen car.

It also means a brief vacation or retreat: a romantic weekend get-away.

The hyphenated form emphasizes the noun; the solid form *getaway* is more common in modern usage.
