genitives
Case showing possession
Genitives are grammatical forms showing possession or close relationship between nouns.
In English, this usually means the possessive case: the dog's tail, Maria's book, a week's vacation.
Many languages have distinct genitive noun endings.
The term also covers phrases with "of": the color of the sky is sometimes called a periphrastic genitive.
