genetic coding
Hereditary blueprint language
Genetic coding refers to the system by which DNA sequences specify the amino acids that make up proteins.
The genetic code consists of three-letter combinations of nucleotides (codons), each corresponding to a particular amino acid or stop signal.
This biological information transfer—from gene to protein—is sometimes called the central dogma of molecular biology: Scientists study genetic coding to understand hereditary diseases.
